The Champaign Table Tennis Club is hosting their Lunar New Year Tournament on Sat 02/04. (download the entry form) Let's try to get a good number of our members over there to play, as the CCTTC makes an effort to play in our tournaments. I believe this is CCTTC's first tournament, and the club was formed only about a year ago. Make sure you contact Bryant if you want to play in this tournament, it's only 2 weeks away!

The 23rd Annual Hillsboro Table Tennis Open is on Sat 02/25. Always a great way to play a lot of matches, with the opening round robin and doubles event. Plus it's not too far away and maybe we can make it three years in a row going to the Chinese Buffet for dinner afterwards!

I hear that the Mt. Pulaski tournament may be at the end of March. This is another nice tournament run in the same style as other local tournaments. The Lindenwood April Open is also the last weekend in March (03/31-04/01) for those of you looking for a sanctioned tournament.

Our STTC Spring Open will be on Saturday, April 14th. We'll post more details about our tournament soon.

The Hillsboro Table Tennis club is hosting the 23rd Annual Hillsboro Table Tennis Open on Saturday, Feb 25th. Read the recap of last year's tournament. As with all the local tournaments in the greater Central IL area—including our STTC tournaments—this is a good opportunity to try an affordable tournament, and Hillsboro isn't too far away from Springfield.

With the opening round-robin, three classes, and doubles round-robin, players of all abilities will get to play plenty of matches.

The STTC Spring Open will be held in April. We will release more details about our tournament in the near future.

Our mini-tournament for club members on Tuesday, 11/15, was a big success. We had 18 players competing in three classes! Congratulations to the following winners:

Class A: 1st - Rick Goertz, 2nd - Jiming Cheng

Class B: 1st - James Embalabala, 2nd - Sandeep Sheth

Class C: 1st - Subir Brahma, 2nd - Shekar Brahma

Here are the results from the STTC 2011 Fall Tournament held on Saturday, October 1st. We had a total of 132 matches in 7 events. Players came from cities all across the greater Central Illinois area such as: Peoria, Quincy, Decatur, Bloomington, Hillsboro, Pawnee, Taylorville, Champaign-Urbana, Charleston and even as far as Indianapolis!

The tournament directors would like to thank the Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church for hosting the event, and the club members who helped during the tournament. Special thanks to Madeline and Kristina for running our snack shop!

Congratulations to all the players who took home prizes. We hope to see you all again at our Spring Tournament in April, 2012!
